Research Plan
Research Chair: Iain S. Walker - iswalker@lbl.gov
Ideas, authors, and reviewers for work-statements in the TC's
scope are needed. Please contact the Research
Subcommittee Chair for details. If interested in helping on
any of the above ideas, please contact
the WS Author(s) directly. Also plan to attend the TC's Research
Subcommittee meetings if possible.
One common comment heard in Standard 62 meetings and elsewhere
is that "more research is needed" to support parts of the Standard.
This is the place to do the research! (There are other places too,
but we're ready & willing.) Submit your ideas to the Research
Subcommittee Chair as two-page "RTARs" and be prepared to help write
the work-statements.
Unsolicited Research Proposals (URPs):
Submission to ASHRAE of well-prepared URPs related to the scope
of the TC are encouraged. Look at the Society's Research web
pages before writing your proposal because there are very specific
requirements. For example, a URP on a topic already covered in ASHRAE's
research plan should not be submitted.
If your resulting URP is within the scope of
TC 5.12, then be sure to note in your cover letter to ASHRAE's Manager
of Research that you think TC 5.12 should review your URP. Do not send
URPs directly to the TC! Fair warning: If your URP is not selected
for funding but the topic is of interest to the TC, we will likely
ask you to write a work-statement.
